If
you have a question about referring a child to early intervention services in
North Carolina, you can talk to someone at the Family Support Network of North
Carolina or someone at one of the Children's Developmental Services Agencies.
For information regarding the statewide system of birth to three services, you
can contact the Early Intervention Branch.
The Central Directory of Resources at Family Support Network of North Carolina holds information about disabilities and statewide resources. The Central Directory of Resources supports professionals and families, by providing information tailored to meet individual questions (Comprehensive System of Personnel Development, Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, 2003).
In North Carolina the local Children’s Developmental Services Agencies (CDSAs), formerly Developmental Evaluation Centers (DECs), are required to assure that children from birth to three years of age receive services mandated under the North Carolina Infant-Toddler Program, Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. These agencies typically serve multiple counties, and are the point of referral for the North Carolina Infant-Toddler Program.
The Early Intervention Branch, in the Women’s
and Children’s Health Section of the Division of Public Health in the
North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, provides state level
administration of the North Carolina Infant-Toddler Program.
