Who Provides Services?

No one person can meet all of your child’s and family’s needs. Your early intervention team may include specialists from a variety of agencies. These specialists will change as your concerns and your child's needs change. You and your family are the most important members of your early intervention team.

Your Child Service Coordinator can help you to coordinate your team of early intervention specialists and the services they are providing. The team may include these persons:

early childhood special education teacher nurse
speech-language pathologist occupational therapist
physical therapist pediatrician or other physician
nutritionist audiologist
teachers for vision and hearing family therapist
social worker psychologist

(See the Parent Dictionary of Early Intervention Words for descriptions of what these early intervention specialists do.)
Early intervention team members can also include other people the family chooses such as friends, neighbors, relatives, or child care providers.

Interpreters and translators must be provided if your native language is something other than English or if you are hearing impaired or visually impaired, unless this is clearly not possible.
