NC Interagency Coordinating Council (NC-ICC)
State
Law,General Statute 143B-179.5, established the Governor's Interagency
Coordinating Council. The NC-ICC:
- Meets quarterly to advise and guide the North Carolina departments
of Health and Human Services and Public Instruction and
other
agencies
regarding services for children with special needs ages birth through
5 years old;
- Includes members who are
- parents of children with special needs
- representative of major agencies providing service to children
with disabilities and their families
- NC General Assembly representatives and senators
- representatives of universities and other programs providing
training to personnel who provide direct services to children and
families
- providers of early intervention services
- Is supported financially by the Division of Public Health of the
Department of Health and Human Services and the Exceptional Children
Division of the Department of Public Instruction
- Receives support from DHHS's Division of Child Development
- All members are appointed by the Governor
- Has working committees open
to anyone interested in services for young children with special needs
and their families
